DAY 1 (D)

Arrival at Belgrade’s airport Nikola Tesla. Transfer to the hotel and check-in.

Serbia Incoming invites you to discover Serbian capital – Belgrade; and ancient city with a charming mix of medieval and modern architecture. Stroll along its lively streets to meet Belgrade’s cultural and historical wealth; get to know its legendary reputation of fantastic host in remarkable world-class restaurants. Visit some of the best shops or simply enjoy a cup of coffee with Belgrade’s panorama. Sightseeing of Belgrade which gives the first impression of the most important Belgrade sights.

During panoramic sightseeing we will see: building of Government of Serbia, Saint Sava Temple – second largest Orthodox churches in the world; Parliament building, Saint Marks church and Republic and Terazije square. Afterwards, walk through city center – the pedestrian street of Prince Mihailo and see the mixture of main European architectural styles and feel the atmosphere of the Belgrade promenade in combination with the stylish and cozy coffee shops, restaurants and modern shops. Visit famous Kalemegdan fortress, unique museum of Belgrade history: remains of the ancient Roman city of Singidunum, Upper town, Roman well, the Military museum and Kalemegdan park – the main city park with many sculptures and monuments of eminent Serbs. In medieval fortress we will see: “Ficirbeir” – viewpoint from which most scenic photos of Belgrade are made, “Zindan” gate, Ružica Church and the Chapel of Saint Petka, built over the famous miraculous water spring and symbol of Belgrade “Pobednik” – Victor monument. We continue to 19th Century Belgrade, where you will see Orthodox Cathedral – extremely valuable treasure representing the icons from 18th – 20th century, Princess Ljubica’s Mansion – typical Balkan architectural style building, today a museum with exhibition of the Serbian history of the 19th century. Dinner at local restaurant in Belgrade and overnight.

DAY 2 (B, L, D)

Morning departure from Belgrade and drive to the charming town of Novi Sad to enjoy sightseeing of rich and significant places of the second largest city in Serbia. The heart of Novi Sad is the wide open space of Liberty square, surrounded by late 19th century buildings.  Admire the Catholic Church of „ Holy Name of Mary“, built in neogothic style. See the National Theater and hear a story about it, as it was the center of Serbian culture during the Austro – Hungarian rule. Wonder trough the oldest streets of Novi Sad – Pašićeva, Zmaj Jovina and Dunavska street, which leads you to the oasis of peace and quietness in the preserved piece of nature „Dunavski Park“.

Walk to the Petrovaradin fortress, the symbol of Novi Sad, situated on the bank of Danube river. Due to its prominent location and size it is often referred to as ’’The Gibraltar of Danube’’ from whose viewpoint you can witness magnificent scenery of Novi Sad and Fruška Gora mountain. Lunch at restaurant in Petrovaradin fortress.

Discover the charming town of Sremski Karlovci known to be spiritual and cultural center of Serbs during Austria-Hungary reign. Walk through beautiful baroque city center and enjoy architectural marvels such as: Patriarchal Residence, Orthodox Saint Nicholas Church, the First Serbian grammar school, the Roman Church of Holy Trinity, the Four Lion’s Fountain and the Chapel of Peace.

Local wine cellars are part of centuries old wine tradition of this geographical region. Its tasty wines are hiding stories waiting to be told and hedonic sips to be relished during degustation time.

Visit to incredible medieval monastery Krušedol, one of the most significant monasteries of region keeps within its walls ancient frescoes and paintings.

Evening return to Belgrade. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight in hotel.

DAY 3 (B, L, D)

Morning departure from Belgrade and drive along beautiful slopes of central Serbia – Šumadija to Topola. This small town rich in history will tell us a tale about royal family Karadjordjevic, whose history began here. Karadjordje Petrovic, the leader of the First Serbian Uprising and founder of the Karadjordjevic Royal dynasty was born here, beneath Oplenac.

Tour of the memory complex comprising of the Saint George Church, Mausoleum of Karadjordjevic Dynasty and the house of the royal family. Famous gorgeous mosaics in the Church and in the crypt are the best achievements of fresco painting in Serbia. The Mausoleum, built by King Petar I, is covered with white marble from nearby Venčac Mountain and from Carrara in Italy. The house of Petar Karadjordjevic, opposite the Church built in 1912, was the summer residence of the King.

This area is known for the world famous wine production. Visit to the famous winery and big traditional lunch and tasting of 5 sorts of wines, with magic view over the wine yards of Oplenac region.

Departure to city of Kraljevo. Check-in at hotel in Kraljevo. Dinner at hotel’s main restaurant and overnight.

DAY 4 (B, L, D)

Vicinity of Kraljevo is full of great medieval monasteries. First of all, we will visit Studenica Monastery, first Serbian cultural site under the protection of UNESCO. Not only is the largest medieval complex in Serbia, but is one of the oldest preserved and still functioning monasteries in Southwest Balkan. Erected in 12th century by the father of Royal Nemanjić dinasty – Stefan Nemanja – this monastery is considered to be one of the corner-stones of European Renaissance movement long before the Renaissance became popular in Italy. Next monastery important for Serbian history is Žiča Monastery an early 13th-century Serbian monastery, in which the 7 medieval Serbian kings were crowned. It was built by the first King of Serbia, Stefan the First-Crowned and the first Head of independent Serbian Church, Saint Sava. Its beautiful architecture is considered to be a true gem of Balkan. Lunch at restaurant in Vrnjačka banja. After lunch, departure to the city of Niš. Check-in at hotel and dinner at hotel’s main restaurant. Overnight in Niš.

DAY 5 (B, L, D)

This day is reserved for the born city of famous Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, city of Niš. First of all, we will visit the Niš Fortress, lying on the bank of Nišava River. Its assumed its final shape in 1723, when the Turks built it, facing the end of their reign in this area. Its construction required that over 40 stonecutters from Constantinople and around 400 bricklayers from Niš and around to be hired; Banovina Building; Niš Liberators Monument at King Milan Square, which presents the period of wars for liberation waged against the Turks, Bulgarians, and Germans; The Monument of well-known Serbian writer Stevan Sremac; Mediana Archeological Site, which was built in the early 4th century AD, during the time of Constantine the Great, as a residence for use by Roman emperors when visiting Naissus (Niš); Skull Tower, the monument, unique in the world, which was built after the Battle of Cegar, Turks prepared the construction of the tower made of skulls; Tinkers Alley – the only part of the commercial district of old Niš that has been preserved. In the age of the Turks this part of Niš was a craftsman’s quarter, but today is a home of numerous restaurants and cafes. Lunch at local restaurant. After lunch, free time for individual activities in Niš. Dinner at local restaurant in Niš. Overnight in Niš.

DAY 6 (B, L, D)

Proceed in exploring Serbian culture taking a peek to each aspect that made it, as we know it today. Visit Gamzigrad, in the vicinity of Zaječar city, which was an imperial palace built on the orders of Galerius Maximianus, another Roman Emperor. Taking a way to unique complex Rajačke Pimnice, near the town of Negotin, where we will have nice welcome lunch and original Serbian wine degustation. Rajačke Pimnice are unique architectural complex of wine cellars, 270 of them, came from half of the 18th century until the thirties years of last century. They are buried two feet into the ground because there the temperature varied little during the year. Pimnice were built of hewn stone and log cabins. Stores associated streets, alleys and squares. After lunch, departure to Kladovo. At hotel’ spa center you`ll be able to relax yourself after a fulfilling program. Dinner at hotel’s main restaurant. Overnight in Kladovo.

DAY 7 (B, L, D)

Get ready for natural phenomenon! We are going to visit city of Donji Milanovac and archeological site Lepenski Vir. It is an important Mesolithic archaeological site which consists of one large settlement with around ten satellite villages. An entire Mesolithic culture was named after Lepenski Vir – a significant and unique prehistoric site. Settlements discovered on the location which was intensely inhabited from 6,300 – 5,500 BC belong to Mesolithic and Early Neolithic. Findings which are believed to date back to the Mesolithic era make Lepenski Vir extraordinary. Go further to Golubac Fortress, 9 towers 14th century fortress perched high on the cliffs, overlooking the magnificent Djerdap George. Lunch at restaurant in Silver Lake. After lunch, departure for Belgrade. On our road to Serbia capital, we will visit Viminacium – Roman military camp and the town was created in the first and lasted until the beginning of VII century. He was one of the major legion camps on the Danube, and for some time and the capital of the Roman province of Upper Moesia, which included most of Serbia, northern Macedonia and part of north-western Bulgaria. You will feel Roman atmosphere for sure! Arrival in Belgrade. Check-in at hotel. Dinner at local restaurant in Belgrade and overnight.

DAY 8 (B, L, D)

Morning departure from hotel to Zemun, which is considered as northern part of Belgrade, but in fact totally different in nature. We will visit Gardoš Tower, built by Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1896 to celebrate a thousand years of Hungarian settlement in the Pannonian plain. Stroll down the Zemun Quay, the home of many of Belgrade boats that ply the Sava and Danube. When we reach the Old Town of Zemun, you will be surprised how it is different from the rest of Belgrade area, with its cobbled, hilly streets and the old quarter charm of Austro-Hungarian style houses. A complete change to the heart of Belgrade, old Zemun feels as though you have stepped back in time. Small cafes and a number of churches dot the area and it is well worth wandering around as a break from the city centre. Lunch at local restaurant in Zemun. After lunch, visit to the Museum of Nikola Tesla – a unique institution of science and culture in Serbia and in the world. It is the only museum in the world which preserves the original and personal inheritance of Nikola Tesla. Nikola Tesla, American scientist of Serbian origin, gave his greatest contribution to science and technological progress of the world as the inventor of the rotating magnetic field and of the complete system of production and distribution of electrical energy based on the use of alternate currents. Free afternoon in Belgrade. Dinner at local restaurant in Skadarlija – famous Belgrade part, known for its Tambura live music, great food and atmosphere. Overnight in Belgrade.

DAY 9 (B)

Free time in Belgrade until departure transfer.
