Lazarica Church is considered by many as the most beautiful example of Serbian medieval architectural style of Moravska school. The church was founded in 1370’s by Prince Lazar, when he moved the capital of Serbia to city of Krusevac, where the church is today, along with the remains of Krusevac Fortress. The church is named after him – Lazarica.

Prince Lazar was tragically killed in the Battle of Kosovo, between Serbian and Turkish armies, which took place in 1389. Since then , he has been hailed as a saint and Martyr.

Remains of his holy relics and the relics of his daughter Jelena are kept inside the church.
